Free up Target storage
Target caches product photos, Circle deals, and Drive Up store maps as you shop. Orders, lists, and Circle stay on your Target account. Target Help does not document an in-app storage cleaner. The local pile is almost all browse cache.
See how much space Target is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap Target.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
- Tap Target.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
The number is listing images and store maps on this phone. Pickup orders stay on the account.
Product photos and store maps
Target keeps aisle and listing images so Drive Up and in-store search feel instant. That cache is safe to drop. Lists, Circle, and your cart stay on the account.
- Open Target and tap Account or the person icon.
- Open Settings if Target lists it.
- Look for Clear cache or Storage. Many versions have no such row.
If there is no in-app button, use Android Clear cache below. The next browse downloads images again.
Sign-in help is not a storage cleaner
Target Help for app sign-in problems tells you to clear the browser cache (Safari History and Website Data on iPhone, or the Android browser privacy settings). That is for login cookies, not Target product photos. Do not treat it as a Target Free up Storage tool.
Clear Target cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > Target.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Target on this phone. That signs you out. Orders stay on the account.
iPhone does not offer a separate Target cache button. Use the in-app steps on this page, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and Target still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Orders, lists, and Circle stay on your Target account. You only need to sign in again after reinstall.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install Target again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After Target is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
