Free up TickTick storage
TickTick tasks live in your TickTick account. This phone stores offline tasks, comment attachments, and a local cache. TickTick Help does not document an in-app cache button. Clearing cache does not delete synced lists.
See how much space TickTick is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap TickTick.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps.
- Tap TickTick.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Attachments
TickTick Help: open a task, then use the image icon or ... > Attachment to add a file. After upload, the file syncs to other devices. Free accounts have a smaller per-file limit than Premium.
- Open a task that holds a large photo or PDF.
- Remove the attachment only if you mean to delete it from the task everywhere.
Copies you saved to Files are separate user files. Clearing cache does not remove those.
Offline cache vs the account
Changes made offline sit on this phone until sync finishes. Wait for that before you clear data. Unsynced tasks can be lost. Synced lists stay in the TickTick account.
Account backup is on the web
TickTick Help: sign in on the web, open avatar > Settings > Backup & Restore > Generate Backup. That is an account export, not a phone-storage cleaner. Current backups may skip attachments.
Clear TickTick cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > TickTick.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to sign out. Unsynced edits on this phone can be lost. Synced tasks stay in the account.
iPhone does not offer a separate TickTick cache button. Offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high after attachments are under control.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and TickTick still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Wait until offline tasks and attachment uploads finish syncing. Lists in your TickTick account stay. Files that never uploaded live only on this phone.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install TickTick again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After TickTick is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
