Free up app storage

Free up TIDAL storage

TIDAL stores HiFi and Max downloads plus a playback cache so tracks start quickly. My Collection stays on your account. Removing a download only deletes the copy on this phone.

See how much space TIDAL is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap TIDAL.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps.
  2. Tap TIDAL.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

TIDAL does not have a WhatsApp-style storage screen. Open My Collection and look at Offline or downloaded albums.

Remove offline music

  1. Open TIDAL and tap My Collection.
  2. Open Offline, or open an album / playlist that shows a download icon.
  3. Turn the download icon off, or tap Remove download.

The album stays in My Collection. Only the offline files leave this phone. HiFi and Max files are much larger than standard streams.

Change Offline settings

  1. Open TIDAL and tap your profile.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Open Offline, storage, or audio quality.
  4. Lower download quality, clear cache if that button is shown, and turn off Wi-Fi only if you need to control when new files land.

Max / HiRes downloads are the usual reason TIDAL looks huge after a few albums.

Clear TIDAL cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > TIDAL.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset TIDAL on this phone. That signs you out and removes local downloads. My Collection stays on your account.

iPhone does not offer a separate TIDAL cache button. Remove offline items in My Collection, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and TIDAL still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Downloads will need to be re-downloaded after you sign in. Your account keeps My Collection, playlists, and favorites.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install TIDAL again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After TIDAL is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
