Free up Todoist storage
Todoist tasks live in your Todoist account. This phone stores offline tasks, comment attachments, and cache. Clearing cache does not delete projects. Deleting a task or attachment in Todoist does, after sync.
See how much space Todoist is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap Todoist.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps.
- Tap Todoist.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Attachments
- Open a task with comments.
- Remove large files from comments only if you mean to delete them from the project.
Comment files are Todoist data. Copies you saved to Files are separate user files. Clearing cache does not remove either until you delete them in the right place.
Offline tasks
Changes made offline sit on this phone until sync finishes. Wait for that before you clear data. Unsynced tasks can be lost. Synced projects stay in the account.
Clear Todoist cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > Todoist.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to sign out.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and Todoist still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Wait until offline tasks and comment uploads finish syncing. Projects in your Todoist account stay. Attachments that never uploaded live only on this phone.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install Todoist again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After Todoist is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
