Free up UC Browser storage
UC Browser stores cached images and files, site data, Downloads, and saved videos. Video downloads are often larger than the page cache. Cached files are safe to clear. Downloads stay in Files until you delete them.
See how much space UC Browser is using
iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Tap UC Browser or UC.
Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps.
- Tap UC Browser.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
UC is mainly an Android browser. If you still have it on iPhone, use iPhone Storage plus in-app clear browsing data.
Clear browsing data
- Open UC Browser and tap the menu.
- Tap Settings > Privacy > Clear browsing data (some versions say Clear cache or sit under Privacy / Security).
- Check cached images and files / cache.
- Check cookies and site data only if you want to sign out of websites.
- Confirm.
Leave saved passwords unchecked unless you mean to remove them.
Delete downloads and saved videos
- Open UC Downloads (and the video download list if UC shows one).
- Delete files and videos you do not need.
- Also delete leftovers in the Files or Downloads app, including Recently Deleted / Trash.
Clear browsing data does not always remove files already saved to Downloads. UC video files are the first place to look if the app is several gigabytes.
Site data
- Open Settings > Privacy and clear site data, or delete data for one site if listed.
Clear UC Browser cache on Android
- Open your phone Settings > Apps > UC Browser.
- Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear cache.
Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset UC and sign out of sites on this phone. Downloaded videos outside the app stay until you delete them in Files.
Reinstall the app if storage is still high
If you already cleaned media and UC Browser still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.
- Keep Downloads and saved videos you still need. Bookmarks may be only on this phone unless you use a UC account. Reinstalling signs you out of sites.
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Install UC Browser again from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.
This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
What to do next
After UC Browser is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
