Free up app storage

Free up Webex storage

Webex caches meeting chat, shared files, and leftover session data on this phone. Cloud recordings live in User Hub, not as a second movie in the mobile app. Local recording is a desktop Webex App feature. Cisco's help does not offer local recording on the phone.

See how much space Webex is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap Webex (or Cisco Webex Meetings if that is the app you use).

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps.
  2. Tap Webex or Cisco Webex Meetings.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Webex does not have a WhatsApp-style Free up Storage screen. Use the system total, then clear shared files and cache.

Clear shared files after meetings

  1. Open Webex.
  2. Tap Settings (iPhone) or More > Settings (Android).
  3. Tap General.
  4. Turn on clearing shared files and histories after meetings, if your build shows that switch.

Cisco documents General as the place for clearing shared files and histories after Webex meetings. Labels vary slightly between Webex App and Webex Meetings.

Delete downloaded files

  1. Open a space or meeting chat and find files you saved.
  2. If Webex sent a copy to Files or Downloads, delete it there.
  3. Cloud recordings: open User Hub in a browser, find the recording, download a copy if you need it, then delete it there to free account storage.

Clearing the phone cache does not delete User Hub recordings.

Clear voicemail trash (if you use Webex Calling)

  1. Open Webex > Voicemail.
  2. Open the Trash tab.
  3. Tap Empty Trash.

Cisco warns that a full voicemail trash can block new messages. This is server voicemail storage, not the same as app cache, but it is worth emptying.

Clear Webex cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Webex (or Cisco Webex Meetings).
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

This matches Cisco's Android article. Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Webex and sign in again.

iPhone does not offer a separate Webex cache button. Offload or delete the app in iPhone Storage, then reinstall and sign in.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Webex still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. You do not need a chat backup. Spaces, meetings, and cloud recordings stay on your Webex account. Sign in again after reinstall.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install Webex again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After Webex is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
