Free up Wise storage

Wise caches statement previews and transfer receipts. Balances and activity stay on your Wise account. Wise Help says the company must keep transaction records. Keep the statements you need. This page is cache only.

See how much space Wise is using

iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Tap Wise.

Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps (or Apps and notifications).
  2. Tap Wise.
  3. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

If Wise looks large, check Files for PDFs you created before you blame the app cache.

Statements and reports stay on the account

Wise Help: tap your initials > Statements and reports > Statements. Or open a currency or jar > three dots > Statements and reports. The app can generate PDF, CSV, or Excel. Do not delete those files if you still need them. The account can generate them again.

Wise’s cache article is for the website

Wise Help “How to clear your cache” is browser steps (Chrome, Safari, and others). For the app, Wise says log out and back in, update, or uninstall and reinstall. “Your information won’t be lost.” That is troubleshooting, not a reason to wipe statements you saved.

Cache only

Android Clear cache drops previews. It does not cancel transfers. PDF statements in Downloads are separate. Delete those in Files only if you still have another copy you need.

Clear Wise cache on Android

  1. Open your phone Settings > Apps > Wise.
  2. Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
  3. Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to reset Wise on this phone. That signs you out. Money stays on the Wise account.

iPhone does not offer a separate Wise cache button. Use the in-app steps on this page, or offload the app in iPhone Storage if the system total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Wise still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

  1. Balances and history stay on Wise. Wise Help says a reinstall does not delete account information. You will sign in again.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Install Wise again from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.

What to do next

After Wise is lighter, check your photo library for duplicates and similar shots. That is what Dedupo is for.
