Free up Yandex Maps storage

Yandex Maps gets large from offline maps you download, plus map and search cache. Saved places stay in your Yandex account if you are signed in. Clearing cache does not delete those cloud favorites. Offline packs on this phone will need a new download later.

See how much space Yandex Maps is using

iPhone

Open the iPhone Settings app.
Tap General > iPhone Storage.
Tap Yandex Maps.

Android

Open your phone Settings > Apps.
Tap Yandex Maps.
Tap Storage or Storage and cache.

Delete offline maps

Open Yandex Maps and tap the menu / profile.
Open Offline maps or Download maps (wording can also be Offline in Settings).
Select a region and delete it.

City packs are the usual multi-gigabyte item. Delete regions you are not visiting.

Clear cache in Yandex Maps

Open Yandex Maps Settings.
Look for cache, storage, or clear cached maps.
Clear cache if the row is there.

If that row is missing, use Android Clear cache instead. Cache is separate from named offline map packs.

Clear Yandex Maps cache on Android

Open your phone Settings > Apps > Yandex Maps.
Tap Storage or Storage and cache.
Tap Clear cache.

Do not tap Clear storage / Clear data unless you mean to sign out and reset Yandex Maps, including downloaded offline maps.

iPhone does not offer a separate Yandex Maps cache button. Delete offline maps first, then offload or reinstall if the total stays high.

Reinstall the app if storage is still high

If you already cleaned media and Yandex Maps still looks huge, a fresh install can clear leftover cache and temp files that are hard to reach by hand.

Saved places stay in your Yandex account if you are signed in. Offline maps on this phone will need to be downloaded again.
Delete the app from your phone.
Restart your phone.
Install Yandex Maps again from the App Store or Google Play.
Sign in and restore from backup if the app offers it.

This often frees a lot of space. You may need to download some media again after restore.
